ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE WIN THE FIRST TSPA INTER-TEAM TROPHY!
Bob Varney and Jeremy Bradley successfully revived the old ETSA Inter County Cup
(last played for in 1993) at Milton Keynes in the guise of the TSPA Inter-Team Trophy.
It was appropriate that competing for this new trophy were not only the leading
players of today (the English Premier League) but also representatives of the 'glory' days of Subbuteo in the form of the
Seventies Masters team, including the only Briton to win the European Cup, Mike Dent.
In the event, after a glorious days play in the sumptious
surroundings of the David Lloyd Fitness Centre, it was left to the EPL and the men from the host town of Milton Keynes to
slug it out at the end of the six team 'round robin'.
The EPL triumphed 2-1 after a close fought final watched by the other competitors
and refereed by the men from Essex.
